A needleless or needle-free jet injector uses a high-pressure jet stream to puncture the skin surface without using a needle. It can be used as a method to administer a vaccine (and also to potentially administer vaccines in a dose-sparing way, which may be useful for large-scale vaccination programs or in situations of limited vaccine supply). CADTH reviewed the comparative clinical effectiveness of NFJI versus traditional needle and syringe injections for vaccine administration.
